Before buying, check the space it occupies, the space needed to open or reach into it, and the work surface left for your everyday tasks. Start with a tape measure and the things you already use. This guide uses published dimensions and a hypothetical desk, not a hands-on product test. 1. Measure the clear desktop, not just the desk label Measure the usable width and depth where the shelf would sit.
